TIDEWATER

Awakening souls,

Let’s keep the faith, do whatever it takes to stay grounded and find ways to connect during this time. We have only just begun this long road to recovery. Let’s help each other remember. We were made for these times! We are the future ancestors!

I would like to introduce Sacred Roots music, gospel for a New Earth! Sacred Roots Music is Earth based spiritual music. They are songs and chants of longing, celebration, devotion and awakening to soothe the soul. They may be remembered, reimagined, unearthed or brand new coming through for the first time.

This chant was written back in February. It was inspired by the Alan Cohen quote and some writing by my Family Constellations teacher, Camille Adair, about the special ecosystem where the river meets the ocean in Oregon.

Tidewater

Faithkeepers come to the river.

Hold us steady as stone.

Where the river meets the ocean.

Tidewater, tidewater, carry us home.

Take me down to the slow river.

Sift me down to the throne.

The river meets the ocean.

Tidewater, tidewater, carry us home.

Faithkeepers come to the river

Ashes fall from the bone.

Where the river meets the ocean.

Tidewater, tidewater, carry us home.

Solid rock in the fast river.

Hold us down to the rooted center.

Where the river meets the ocean.

Tidewater, tidewater, carry us home.

“In the Native American tradition, one member of the tribe assumes the role of “faithkeeper.” This person’s role is to remain at peace, centered in spiritual vision no matter what events befall the tribe. Even if everyone else in the tribe slips into pain, fear or dissension, the faithkeeper is the one person the tribe can rely on as a lifeline to the present. This is our role now.
